The Five Ws (sometimes referred to as Five Ws and How, 5W1H, or Six Ws) are questions whose answers are considered basic in information gathering or problem solving. They are often mentioned in journalism, research, and police investigations.
They constitute a formula for getting the complete story on a subject. According to the principle of the Five Ws, a report can only be considered complete if it answers these questions starting with an interrogative word:

• Who was involved?
• What happened?
• Where did it take place?
• When did it take place?
• Why did that happen?

Some authors add a sixth question, “how”, to the list:

• How did it happen?

Where is basic. For me. You can’t know who, it doesn’t matter why. How doesn’t care.

Non importa Perche’. 

Non importa il Come. 

What, yes. It matters. When you report.

But first, always, you have to know WHERE. It helps to understand.

The WHERE gives you the framework, from where you can get the who, the why and the how.

History and culture can complete so this picture.
