Padre Pio, born in Pietrelcina on 1887, May 25. was Francesco Forgione, and he was given the name of Pio when he joined the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin.
He was both beatified the 1999, May 2. and canonized the 2002, June 16 by Pope John Paul II.
